Bylaws
of the G. K. Chesterton Society
of Patrick Henry College

Article I

Name

The name of this Society shall be the G. K. Chesterton Society of Patrick Henry College.

 

Article II

Object

The object of this Society shall be to develop in its members a servant-minded and creative intellectualism rooted firmly in the Gospel of Christ and devoted to the service of Christianity; and to develop personal qualities befitting an ambassador of Truth.

 

Article III

Membership

Any full-time student enrolled at and attending classes on the campus of Patrick Henry College who shares the object of the Society shall be eligible for membership in the Society. Members shall be eligible to participate fully in the meetings and publications of the Society, at the discretion of the officers.

 

Article IV

Officers

Section 1. Officers of the Society. The officers of the Society shall be a President and a Secretary.

Section 2. Duties of the President. The President shall provide leadership for the Society; supervise the publications of the Society; and preside over meetings of the Society.

Section 3. Duties of the Secretary. The Secretary shall assist the President in his duties; keep the official membership roll of the Society; and keep a record of all the proceedings of the Society.

Section 4. Elections. Elections shall be held during the last month of each Spring semester; upon the resignation of one or more officers; or upon petition by two-thirds of the membership of the Society.

 

Article V

Amendment of Bylaws

These bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the Society with the consent of two-thirds of the membership of the Society, provided that the amendment has been previously submitted in writing to every member of the Society.
